Work From Home As a Call Center Agent

Boris No Comments »
With fuel prices soaring, more and more people are asking themselves the following question: “Are there any real work at home jobs that are not scams”? This stems from the fact that a simple internet search for “work from home” or “work at home” yields all sorts of results. Some of them are just flat out scams. Others, like affiliate marketing, multilevel marketing, and the such, are not made for everybody. And lastly, there’s a fundamental difference to be made between a work at home opportunity and a work at home job.

Examples like the aforementioned affiliate marketing or multilevel marketing are work at home opportunities. As such, they require some form of investment. Affiliate marketing business opportunities are typically free to join, but in order to be at least moderately successful at them, you will need to invest in tools, just like any other business. Multilevel Marketing requires a minimal fee to join, but also requires investment of both time and money in order to succeed.

Work at home jobs are different. First of all, a work from home job doesn’t require that you invest money. When was the last time you had to pay to apply for jobs? Secondly (and this is just like the “normal” jobs), there’s a very thorough selection process, which results in an acceptance rate that can be as low as 3%. Clearly, you won’t be hired just by filling out an application. Thirdly, you will most likely have to undergo training before you can really make serious money, and that means that at the beginning your earnings will be modest.

Truth is, there are real, scam-free ways to make money working from home, and one of the best ways to achieve that goal is through an at home call center job. If you’ve had to call any company’s customer service department, chances are that you have been re-routed to an overseas call center (most of the time in India). But due to the negative publicity garnered by this approach, and thanks to the Internet and better call-routing technology, more companies are outsourcing their order-taking, sales and problem-solving calls to home-based workers in North America.

Companies like LiveOps, Working Solutions, Alpine Access, and Arise handle incoming calls through their home-based agents. Those agents handle incoming calls, such as inquiries from shoppers buying products, orders from infomercials, and travel and health care products and services. Companies who request those services include 1-800-Flowers, J. Crew, Office Depot, ExpressJet, the Internal Revenue Service, and so on.

Another interesting option is JetBlue. Every single one of Jetblue’s (roughly 800) reservation agents works from home. Those hundreds of home based workers are the reservations system. There is no backup. “If you call 1-800-JetBlue you’re going to get someone in their home,” said Jet Blue’s CEO David Neeleman.

You will generally be required to pay for a background check. Many of those companies provide services where sensitive client information is handled by their agents, and they are concerned about hiring anyone who has been involved in previous criminal activity. You will also be required to get a dedicated phone line; using your home phone will not be an option. Typically, you will have to provide your own equipment.

Should you want join the work at home workforce, here are a couple of helpful suggestions:

Carefully evaluate offers. Will you be paid on salary or on commission? How often? What equipment (hardware/software) will you have to provide? What support will you get from the company?

Stay away from promises of overnight wealth or get rich quick claims from home. They will only enrich those who sell them.

Do not send money except for your background check! Legitimate employers don’t charge you to get started or for anything else.

Don’t send money for work at home directories or start-up kits. Free information and job listings are available online.

Be flexible - consider freelance work or projects as well as full-time employment. At least it will get you started.

When conducting work at home job searches on the Internet, be patient and be prepared to spend a lot of time weeding through scams and junk listings before getting to legitimate openings.

Telecommute: Work at Home Job of the Future

Wahm No Comments »
Work at home jobs are all the rage today. Telecommuting has become more and more popular. With rising fuel cost and longer commutes to work, it has become more productive for some people to work from home. Companies large and small are discovering that some employees can be more productive when working from home.

You may be an employee that could benefit from a work at home Telecommute program. The first thing to do is find out if your present employer has a work at home program. You may want to do this in a quiet way that does not raise a bunch of red flags with company management.

If your company has Telecommute jobs then you need to head to the human resource department and apply. Before you apply try and find out which jobs are available. You want to study up on this position. It may require you to change positions. If so, you need to be ready for an interview process. This requires you to research and know what you are talking about. You want to ace the interview.

You may find that your current position can be done from home. You may have to convince your company that you can do the job from home. Do some research and be prepared for your work at home sales pitch to the boss. Have numbers and statistics about how more productive people are and how much money companies are saving. The bottom line for managers is how much money will they save, and how much more work you will be doing. They go gaga over these kinds of statistics.

A good telecommute job may just be the job you are currently performing, only from home. You should be prepared that if your effort fails, you’re standing with your company may be compromised. They may feel you are not happy and will look to leave. You should have a backup plan, in case your effort to convert your job to work at home fails.

Before you make your pitch to your current company, call around and see if there are companies in your area who have a work at home program. You will usually have to start work in the office for some time before you can work at home. You will then have the opportunity to switch to the work at home job. Be prepared for the time that this may take.

Here are a couple of ways to search for a good work at home job:

- Local search: Search your local companies. You should be prepared with data about the productivity of telecommute jobs before you approach a company. This can be worth your work because you will be working for a company that is in your local area. There are tremendous advantages in working with a local company. The least of which are accounting and pay issues.

- News and magazine search: Many companies advertise in print for work at home positions. Be careful with these. Check them out before you even contact them. Remember; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Once you have checked with the BBB and done some online research and they check out o.k. then contact them.

- Internet Search: This is probably the most popular way people look for telecommute or work at home jobs. It can be the most expensive if you do not pay attention to what you are doing. This is where the predators lurk, waiting for you. You must research every company and every offer thoroughly before you send anyone money. If they will not provide you information without you giving them a fee, then you know they are not legitimate. Be careful and you will be able to find a good job.

These are just a few of the ways to find a great work at home telecommute job. As always, be safe.

Phrases Not to Use for Finding Work at Home Jobs

Red Flags No Comments »
When people start considering working at home they will most likely start by looking on the internet by using search engines. This is a great way to find work at home positions, but only if you know the right phrases to use. There actually are some phrases not to use for finding work at home jobs.

If you’ve ever searched for anything on the major search engines, you know that using a keyword phrase will help narrow down the results to you get. The results will also be more targeted. Hopefully they’ll provide you with the information you need.

Most people will head over to their favorite search engine and type a phrase into the search box.

These are some phrases not to use: Work at home opportunity or work at home opportunities - Obviously you’re interested in work at home opportunities. If you have to use either of these phrases, additional information will improve your chances of finding what you want. Try children’s toys work at home opportunity if you would like to sell children’s toys.

Work from home job or work from home jobs - Again, the phrases are too generic. You’ll receive too many hits to find what you want. Daycare work from home jobs will be more targeted and will provide you with fewer results.

Work at home job or work at home jobs - This phrase is too similar to the above pair. You may actually end up receiving the results from the above phrases along with the ones for these phrases. Graphic artist work at home jobs will provide more specific results than you will get with phrases that are not targeted.

When you type these phrases in the search box, you’ll have well over a million hits to sort through to find the work at home job of your dreams. Do you have any idea how long it would take you to go through that many search results? Let’s just say it would take a long time.

You may find legitimate companies using the above keyword phrases, and they may even have success finding people. You don’t want to take a chance, though. You’ll do better finding what you’re looking for if you choose a more specific keyword phrase. Try some of these instead:

Virtual employee or virtual assistant positions - The word “virtual” is a much more targeted phrase when looking for online work. You can find companies that hire virtual employees or tell you how to become a virtual employee. If you can be even more specific in your search, your chances of finding what you want will increase dramatically.

Telecommuting or telecommuter - These words actually denote working from home without having to say so. They more aptly express the fact that you would like to work for a company but would like the opportunity to work out of your home, either full-time or part-time.

Freelance work or freelancer - These words also mean something specific. They usually refer to writers, artists, graphic artists, or something of that nature. People searching for freelance work do not want to work as employees, but want to be entirely independent.

Of course, the more specific you can be in your keyword search engine phrase, the better off you’ll be. If you are interested in freelance accounting jobs, use that keyword phrase. The phrases not to use for finding work at home jobs aren’t bad choices in and of themselves, they’re just not as effective as others you could use.

Computer Work At Home Jobs - Can You Make Real Money?

Casual Attire No Comments »
Working at home no longer means lugging your work from the office home with you, nor is it limited to hosting product parties. Computer work at home jobs have become very popular and are overruling the concept of working from home. But even these jobs are broad in spectrum. They can be anything from owning an eBay store to offering web development services to businesses.

Some of these computer work at home jobs are even as simple as taking surveys or writing reviews for products and services you use regularly. But do these jobs actually pay the bills or are they just a way for the modern public to pass away their time? Is it really worth jumping on the bandwagon?

They answer is yes!

Believe it or not most people dont do computer work at home jobs because they want to be their own boss or because they want to be millionaires. A number of people who work at home work for companies, they either have a direct employer or clients that they have to touch base with. And most people who work from home are not rich nor are they seeking to be. So if the seemingly popular reasons for working at home dont apply to majority of the public then why do people bother to do computer work at home jobs?

Passion is sometimes more important than money.

A number of people who work at home also work outside the home in jobs they dont like or dont feel appreciated in. But when they come home they get the opportunity to do something they are passionate about.

For instance, a friend of mine works at a small marketing firm. Hes likes marketing but he enjoys sketching comics a lot more. However, when hes posting his comics on his blog, hes not only doing something he loves, hes able to apply all his marketing skills. He makes a decent amount of money with his blog and he gets to showcase his talents. His computer work at home job makes up for what he doesnt get in his career.

This sense of purpose is why he works from home. He may never become a millionaire but hes doing something he loves which makes doing a computer work at home job worth it. Whats more hes making money, in his sleep.

More money for fewer hours is very tempting.

Earning money online with a computer work at home job is not necessarily any easier than offline, just ask any affiliate marketer; however, it is faster once you get the ball rolling. There are several ways to earn passive income online– that is working once and getting paid over and over. There are very few offline jobs that offer this. Its also easier to create multiple streams of income. One website alone can be monetized to pay you in 4 different ways. You dont need to put any extra hours in to earn extra money.

Example, an internet marketer I know has a website about the health benefits of chocolate. Her website pays her each time someone uses one her affiliate products, clicks an adsense ad, advertises in her ezine, buys her ebook and signs ups for the webhosting programs she uses. She only works 5 hours a day sending traffic her website and maintaining it and at the end of the day shes earned more than she would have working 8 hours outside her home. With 3 kids, time is very important to her. But doing a computer work at home job gives her the time she needs as well as the money she needs.

Not everyone does a computer work at home job because they want to be the next Donald Trump. Some people do it because they want a way to do something they love; some do it because it takes less time. Whatever the reason computer work at home jobs are only going to get more popular, so the real question isnt why do people do it but whether or not youre going to.
