How to Make Money Online Without Spending tons Of Money

Is there anyone who hasn’t at least thought about how to make money online? The enormous growth of the internet has attracted literally tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, some smart some not so much, looking for a way to cash in on the biggest marketing tool ever. With over a billion searches each month, the internet is the largest marketplace ever known to man. Annual online sales of goods and services are greater than $200 billion in the U.S. alone and are on an upward trend.

With those kinds of numbers, how could you not make money online?

It’s pretty tempting isn’t it? You know the money is there and it’s just a question of how best to get some in your pocket. But if you are like most people, you haven’t got a clue as to where to start or how this whole internet marketing thing actually works. So you do some research and you discover hundreds of offers to help the newbie get up and running.

And that’s where you start spending money that you shouldn’t.

Hold On To Your Wallet

You’ve seen all the courses right? There are starter courses, courses on how to get traffic, how to build websites, tools to use for keyword research, membership sites that promise to deliver the most up to date tactics, black hat traffic snatching and the list goes on and on.

And if you’ve already jumped into this game you more than likely bought into one program, became discouraged, quit and bought another. And then another, and maybe a bright shiny tool to help with keywords, and then another and you still haven’t made a dime for your efforts.

Well here’s a news flash. The only thing you absolutely have to buy in order to make money online is a domain name. It would be nice to have a hosting service as well and if you can afford $10 per month go for it. All the rest, the training, websites, keyword tools and traffic generation can be had for free.

Granted it’s going to take some learning on your part and you’re not going to make a fortune right away. But if you want to learn the business and generate some extra income you can do it on a shoestring providing you have the perseverance to stick at it.

The most difficult part of making money online is simply deciding on what product or service that you want to provide. There is an old direct marketing adage that says you need to find a hungry crowd, find out what they are hungry for and then feed it to them and that holds true in internet marketing.

Free Stuff For Everybody

Now there are some pretty slick tools that will help you answer these questions but they are expensive and all they are really doing is automating data you can get for free from Google. Google has two tools available to anyone the external keyword tool and Google Insights report. In fact Google, in its effort to provide tools to its AdWords advertisers, has provided the rest of the world with a cornucopia of information regarding search. Save your money and invest your time checking it out.

Once you have an answer to the first two questions you’ll need to have a product to answer the third. In today’s world of affiliate marketing this is the least of your problems. Big names like Wal-Mart, Amazon and Macy’s down to obscure makers of homemade candles and quilts are marketing their goods through affiliates. Find the product you want to promote and sign up. It’s free and relieves you of the responsibility of carrying inventory or collecting money.

Websites have become child’s play. You can create free websites on Sqidoo or Weebly and use that experience to get a feel of how one should look and feel. Designing these sites are a snap, and for some, almost addictive. Google also provides free blog sites, again using automated “component” design that anyone can put together in an hour.

Once you become comfortable with that process you can build your own piece of internet real estate using Wordpress an open source web design available free on most hosting services. Having your own site, rather than relying on the free sites, gives much more flexibility both in design, content and links.

YouTube is an amazing resource of “how to” videos for web design and keyword search and should be considered you’re tuition free internet marketing community college.

Now the hard part. Getting traffic to your site can be done for free through article marketing using the free directories like EzineArticles and ArticleBase. This requires however, that you come up with intelligent, useful content. You can’t just slap junk up and expect people to click through to your site. Content is king and it is the one thing that will give you traffic through the directories and also clicks from ranking on Google.

If you want to spend money, spend it on a course that teaches you how to write effective compelling content. Do not spend it on article spinners that are really a piece of junk.

You can make money online without spending a ton but it requires work. There are no magic bullets. Think of this as your internship. Once you are proficient and you have money coming in, you can outsource some of the functions and enjoy a nice income from this amazing marketplace called the internet.
